US Israel Binational Industrial Research & Development Foundation
SGI is the official Ohio representative for the Israel-US Binational Industrial Research and Development Foundation (BIRD) which can bring funding of up to $1,000,000 for joint US-Israel projects. BIRD neither takes an equity stake or management role in the project and grants are only repaid if the project is successful. There is no further liability to the company.
Since its establishment in 1977, BIRD has funded over 800 projects with sales exceeding $8 billion.Areas of interest to BIRD include Water and Advanced Energy, Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals, Agriculture, IT, Homeland Security, Sensors, Neuroscience. There are three programs BIRD funds:
